Extra Research
Notable features:
This opening from 'Saw 2' featured one scene which included a dramatic build-up eventually leading to a 'horrific event'. This film would be considered much less scary in contrast with 'Martyrs' as it did not leave the viewer guessing (a convention that would be typically used to draw suspense whilst building the viewers fear), a feature that would appeal to a larger audience as it would be considered less horrific. This would suggest that I should incorporate this style into my film opening. This trailer also uses a generic colour grade, with emphasis play upon green/blue colouring- this is a feature of which used commonly throughout the horror genre as a whole. Possibly I should manipulate this into my film opening.
This extract did feature a fast editing pace/ sound and during the main scene cut into a montage- a feature of which significant throughout the entirety of the 'Dawn of The Dead' opening. Though this opening did not include intertitles (possibly to maintain continuity of the scene) revealing the names of the people involved in the film, though did feature the title of the film at the closing of the scene which then opened into the start of the film.
Notable features:
This opening montage from 'Masters of Horror' featured an array of blood (metaphorical for the horror within the film, done through the negative connotations associated with the element and the colour red), the blood was synchronised with the audio (sometimes upon a white, parchment like background) and included text revealing the names of the key people involved in the production of the film.
